Antenatal Classes
Generally, the groups are small, up to 6 couples. The classes take place in the teacher's own home so the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. There will be a reunion once everyone has had their babies.
The topics covered include everything you might expect:
Pain relief, Relaxation, Positions, Caesareans, Feeding, Postnatal Life
However, the parents themselves choose the exact content, so you can be sure that what you want to know or discuss will be covered.
The classes are a good way to meet other people expecting at a similar time to yourself and who live near to you. Many people make lifelong friendships through these classes.
To enquire about places, please e-mail antenatal@nct-sfo.org.uk

If you have any queries throughout your pregnancy or afterwards, please make contact. We are here to support anyone in the community whether or not they are a member of the NCT.
Our antenatal teachers, breastfeeding counsellors and postnatal leaders undergo a thorough training with the NCT although they are not required to be medically qualified. All teachers, counsellors and leaders are expected to keep up to date with the latest developments in maternity care and must register with us every year. Their role is to offer support, information, practical skills and resources to help parents make informed choices for themselves and their babies. They do not offer medical advice and parents are asked to take any questions about the medical care of mother and baby to their midwife, health visitor or doctor.
There are now non-NCT antenatal classes at The Children's Centre at Linaker Street and at Parenting 2000 in Southport
